Alternative Approval Process Results

The deadline for submitting elector response forms opposing the proposed bylaw to borrow up to  $6 million for a new Ladysmith water filtration plant was 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12.

The Town received 21 Elector Response Forms. Under the provincial legislation, the borrowing bylaw is deemed to have received voter approval unless at least 10 per cent of eligible electors indicate their opposition.  The number of forms required for the alternative Approval Process not to succeed was 699.

The Water Filtration Loan Authorization Bylaw has therefore received voter approval.  The Bylaw will go to Council for adoption on May 1, 2017.
