Over the past few years, Ladysmith has been fortunate to have been the setting for a number of film productions. Unique features of the Town, especially 1st Avenue, have made Ladysmith a filming location for a number of movies and television shows, including ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’, ‘Pup Academy’ and most recently ‘Resident Alien’.

Required Forms for Filming in Ladysmith

The Town of Ladysmith requires that anyone planning a film production on Municipal property, including streets, sidewalks and other public space, have a permit.

The Town of Ladysmith requires a permit for anyone planning a film production on Town property, including streets, sidewalks and other public spaces. Filming locations must be approved in advance by the Town and the Filming Guidelines are attached to “Film Bylaw 2021, No. 2045”.
