In 2008, over 600 citizens took part in a process to craft a vision of a sustainable future for our community. The resulting Sustainability Vision is a road map for the Town and our residents.
The Sustainability Visioning Report includes a broad-based sustainability vision and recommendations for the entire community, along with additional details for areas of special significance (i.e. Holland Creek, Ladysmith's historic downtown core and the waterfront lands).
Since adopting the Sustainability Vision in early 2009, the Town has brought in a number of measures that support the vision.
The Town published its detailed Sustainability Action Plan in November 2013, following two years of public consultation. The Plan aims to build on and implementour Sustainability Vision, putting in place many of the key ideas, concepts and images that emerged from the community as part of the visioning process. The Action Plan lays out the detailed actions, goals, targets and monitoring system necessary to implement the community's vision in a systematic and accountable manner.
