Town moving to Stage 1 water restrictions May 1

Ladysmith, BC – The Town of Ladysmith is moving to Stage 1 water restrictions effective May 1.

Under Stage 1, lawn sprinkling is permitted for 2 hours per designated day (Wednesdays and Saturdays for even-numbered addresses and Thursdays and Sundays for odd-numbered addresses).

Outdoor watering is prohibited between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Watering during the evening, night, or early morning helps minimize water waste caused by evaporation and balances peak water usage.

“We encourage all residents to follow the water restrictions. These are conservation measures that help us use water efficiently as we head into the warmer months. By watering only on designated days and during cooler times, we can all do our part to reduce waste and protect our community’s water supply,” says Nicholas Pescod, the Town’s Communications & Engagement Specialist.

There are no restrictions on filling hot tubs and washing vehicles, boats, driveways, houses and sidewalks under Stage 1.

The Town of Ladysmith respectfully acknowledges that we gather and work on the unceded territory of the Stz'uminus First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
