2025 mayoral by-election preliminary results available

Ladysmith, BC The preliminary results of the 2025 by-election to fill the vacant seat of mayor are now available.

With a total of 854 votes, Deena Beeston, is expected to be the next mayor of Ladysmith. The official results of the by-election will be declared by Wednesday, March 5, when the count is finalized.

A total of 1,740 votes were cast in the by-election. This figure includes all advance and mail ballots.

There were 22.93% of registered voters who cast a ballot in the by-election.

“The Town of Ladysmith is grateful to everyone who participated in the by-election,” says Donna Smith, the Town's Chief Election Officer. “We look forward to declaring the official results next week.”
