Stage 3 water restrictions now in effect for Ladysmith area

Ladysmith, July 25, 2024 – Stage 3 water restrictions are in effect for the Town of Ladysmith, Stz’uminus First Nation, and the Diamond Improvement District until further notice.

The move to Stage 3 coincides with the Cowichan Valley Regional District’s decision to move all watering systems in the region to Stage 3. This decision is in accordance with the Province moving East Vancouver Island to Drought Level 4.

Water restrictions are intended to help control water usage as demand increases with the hot, dry weather and residents are expected to follow CVRD guidelines for watering times.

Under Stage 3, lawn watering is not allowed by any method, including conventional irrigation systems, sprinklers or hand watering. Gardens, trees and bushes can be hand-watered, but only before 9:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m. Residents are also not permitted to fill pools or hot tubs.
