Town of Ladysmith Keeping our Community Safe during COVID-19

The Town of Ladysmith remains committed to the health and safety of our community and is taking steps to limit the spread of COVID-19, including the immediate suspension of all indoor adult fitness classes until mid-April.

On Monday, the Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry issued new orders responding to an increase in COVID-19 cases throughout B.C. and emphasized limiting travel between communities and working from home where possible.

As we comply with these recommendations and latest orders, Town administrative offices and facilities remain open, however, staff are transitioning towards a remote working environment for the next three weeks. These measures are meant to safeguard the public health of our residents.

We remain open for business and are encouraging members of the public to contact us by phone or email with your enquiry.

City Hall remains open as we accept Utility Bill payments due on May 28, 2021. Please consider making your payment online through your financial institution.

Also in response to these new orders, Parks, Recreation and Culture is suspending all indoor adult fitness classes, including aquatic fitness classes, at the Frank Jameson Community Centre through to April 19, 2021.

Staff are reviewing the orders and seeking clarification from Island Health and the BC Parks and Recreation Association to ensure our program offerings and COVID-19 Safety Plan are up-to-date.

If you are registered for an indoor fitness class scheduled to begin in April we will be contacting you shortly regarding the cancellation, or potential rescheduling of the class to an outdoor area where we can ensure physical distancing among participants.

The Fitness Centre and pool both remain open at this time for registered drop-in visits only.
