Ladysmith's CAO accepts new position with City of White Rock

Ladysmith's Chief Administrative Officer Guillermo Ferrero will be leaving the Town of Ladysmith to take an exciting new position as CAO with the City of White Rock.

"Ladysmith couldn't have asked for a better leader and CAO to work with us over these last 4 years. As we’ve rapidly progressed as a community, Guillermo has been there with us out front, every step of the way. He has worked hard to support our council, community and staff to reach some very lofty goals. The highlights and achievements really are too many to list but be assured that Guillermo will be greatly missed," said Mayor Aaron Stone.

"Guillermo has instilled a high performance, supportive organizational culture and a strong leadership team at the Town of Ladysmith. Whomever is tasked to replace him, will have an amazing, solution-oriented group ready to support them. On behalf of council and community, I am so thankful for the time we have had with Guillermo. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors. White Rock is very fortunate."

Mr. Ferrero's last day with the Town of Ladysmith will be Friday, May 15th.

"The staff, the Council and the community have been so amazing over the past four years.  It’s hard to put into words all the positive things I have experienced, and how much I admire our staff and our Council.  Council has been so supportive of me and our staff team at every step," said Mr. Ferrero.

Highlights of Ladysmith's achievements during Mr. Ferrero's time as CAO include the award-winning Waterfront Area Plan which was developed in partnership with Stz'uminus First Nation, and the Planning Institute of B.C. 2017 Great Street award for 1st Avenue. Mr. Ferrero also introduced a state-of-the art project management system to support Council's Strategic Plan.

Council will begin the process of recruiting a new CAO in the coming days.  In the interim, they are working with Mr. Ferrero and senior staff to put a transition plan in place.

"We have a strong and dedicated Council and top-notch senior leadership team to guide us through this period of transition," said Mayor Stone.
