Summer has officially arrived and that means the countdown is on to Ladysmith's Canada Day bash at Transfer Beach this coming Monday.
Join us on July 1, 2019 for an afternoon of live music, kids' activities and games, and of course a slice of the giant cake from Old Town Bakery as our community gathers together to celebrate Canada's 152nd birthday.
The Town would like to acknowledge the event is taking place on the traditional unceded territory of the Stz'uminus First Nation.
Canada Day celebrations kick off on our scenic waterfront at 1:00 pm and continue until 5:00 pm. Dignitaries in attendance this year will include Mayor Aaron Stone, Stz'uminus Chief John Elliott, MP Paul Manly and MLA Doug Routley.
Ladysmith Ambassador Kennedy Jessome, and Vice-Ambassadors Josie Tinney and Selena Borgerson will help to cut the cake at 2:45 pm.
Join in the family-friendly fun for all ages with giant Jenga and Connect 4, Ladder Toss, active games, art activities, volleyball and more.
Musical entertainment will be provided by blues singer-songwriter Marc Crissinger. A Maple Blues Award Nominee, his solo show features stellar guitar playing and soulful vocals.
Classic rock cover band WE3 is next on the lineup playing all the favourites from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
Make sure to also bring your appetite and sample some of the food truck fare available from Thunder's Truck, VI Minis & Dips and Moodies Ice Cream.
A friendly reminder that dogs are only permitted at Transfer Beach Park in the off-leash and grassy areas on the west side of Captain Tristan de Koninck Way.
The Town acknowledges the financial support of the Government of Canada.
