Reminder to get your fireworks permit for Halloween

Ladysmith residents interested in discharging fireworks on Halloween night are reminded to follow the Town’s application and permitting process.

The Town’s Family Fireworks Permit Application fee is $10 and replaces the process previously overseen by the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD).

Residents in Areas G and H are asked to contact the CVRD regarding applicable fireworks permit requirements.

The Town permit is necessary to ensure that fireworks are being set off on private property by someone 18 years of age or older in a responsible manner. The permit also assists authorities in tracking the location and times of fireworks displays, should complaints be received.

Application forms can be obtained at Ladysmith City Hall, 410 Esplanade during business hours, Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., by emailing info@ladysmith.ca or visiting our website.

Please note that all fireworks permit applications are due at least 3 business days (end of day Thursday, October 26, 2023) before the event to be approved by the Fire Chief.
