Town places hold on issuing of fireworks permits

The Town of Ladysmith has placed a temporary hold on the issuing of fireworks permits for Halloween night due to the ongoing Coastal Fire Centre ban, which remains in effect until October 28, 2022, or until the order is rescinded.

The Coastal Fire Centre ban has restricted the use of fireworks due to the dry conditions and resulting risk of a potential wildfire; Category 2 and Category 3 open fires also remain prohibited as well as sky lanterns, burn barrels and burn cages.

New for 2022, Ladysmith residents interested in discharging fireworks must obtain a Family Fireworks Permit from City Hall.

Permits are issued by the Fire Chief and ensure those discharging fireworks in Ladysmith comply with regulations, including proximity to a livestock property.

However, due to the current ban and restrictions, applications are currently not being accepted for consideration at this time.

The Town will update the public accordingly when further updates become available from the Coastal Fire Centre.
