Ladysmith Council is sending a virtual high-five and congratulations to all residents for respecting physical distancing measures and not gathering in groups over the long weekend.
The Easter weekend was expected to be a true test for all communities; residents were asked by public health authorities to avoid non-essential travel and stay apart during a holiday when many traditionally gather with family and friends.
"On behalf of Council, I want to thank and applaud everyone for continuing to place the health and well-being of our community first by following the health orders and recommendations," said Mayor Aaron Stone.
"The ongoing steps we are all taking now will show over the coming days and weeks as we flatten the curve, together."
Going forward, the Holland Creek Trail remains open to the public but all parking lots will remain closed to limit congestion at trailheads, deter visitors from other communities and limit the number of hikers and walkers on the trail at one time.
Please consider walking in your own neighbourhood rather than parking on residential streets to access the trail network.
